Welcome

When you think of ADHD who do you picture? Many see an hyperactive adolescent boy...but few picture a an adult, beautifully pregnant and preparing to bring new life into this world. ADHD has a worldwide prevalence of 5-7% (Polanczyk, 2014; Thomas 2015) and as many as 1% of pregnant people use stimulant medication (Norby, 2017)! Many women, trans and GNC folks with ADHD are newly diagnosed as adults and have been excluded from conversations about ADHD. The dialogue on ADHD pregnancy and parenting is very recent. How much do you and your pregnancy care provider(s) know about the ways in which ADHD and pregnancy interact?

I acknowledge my place of work is within the ancestral, traditional and unceded territory of the xÊ·mÉ™θkwÉ™yÌ“É™m (Musqueam) and I service the territories of the hÉ™nÌ“qÌ“É™minÌ“É™mÌ“ language group. I recognize that I am an uninvited guest working on stolen land. I hope that the recognition of these facts may serve as a first act of reconciliation, and seek to move forward in a good way. Particularly, by honouring the life-givers of my hosts and supporting the return of birth back to the land.
